For Pre-Lci e90's

So basically we can't code our welcoming lights unless we get the FRM3 module.

Is there anyway to convert our current module to frm3 so that way we don't have to buy that expensive module?

I've been really determined to find an alternative towards this issue.

Your statement is incorrect. I have a Pre-LCI and I have all of the welcome light features.

Really? Cause someone told me that in order to have all the welcoming lights (have angel eyes turn on when unlocking the car) we had to have the FRM3 module.

How'd you manage to get your lights to work?

My car was produced in June 2008. I had AE, interior, and door handle lights as welcome lights on the first day that I got my car. I just have to make sure the head light knob is set to AUTO to get those features.

Oh ok nvm this is meant for production date of 05(2006 330i). No wonder why you got welcoming lights

You have to have an 07 for welcome lights.

2006 325xi - No WL
2007 328xi - Welcome lights (11/06) production

As I understand it, welcome lights work with FRM2 and FRM3, but not FRM1. This would make perfect sense based on everyone's experience with coding them/prod. dates.

I'll be looking for an FRM3 from a scrapped LCI as they become more common; retrofitting isn't straightforward, however.

Ok so basically we HAVE to get the FRM3 module in order to get welcoming lights for our cars then.

There's no way of reprogramming our current module to act as if its an FRM3?

Pretty sure you don't have to get FRM3, FRM2 works just as well for welcome lights.

afaik, only advantage to FRM3 over FRM2 is allowing for error-free operation of LCI Xenons.

edit: you can refer to realoem, but FRM2 appeared in cars from about 07/06 prod. dates on, as discussed. All MY06 should have FRM1 from the factory.
