280 kph++ Speedo coding mod...
I was talking to Marcel the guy who will tune my car. He told me that he can offer some speedo coding...
On the German model(s) x35i the speedo only goes to 280 kph (173 mph). What he does is when the speedo reaches 280 kph, the needle then switches to 140 kph - and continues up. Just add the speed - to know the real speed you are driving. Kind of cool. I am not sure IF I will get this. I just thought I would show you a video of how it works. Btw... he tells me a 135i or 335i should be able to hit mid 290's. Normally 294 kph or so he says. He also told me the highest he has seen is 165 with this mod. So... 280 + 25 = 305 kph. Dackel |

380ish PS & 500 Nm of Tq and V-Max of 294kph (I think).
Actually I am not getting hung up over numbers... I just want the engine o feel more responsive and powerfull again. This SW update has made me sour on BMW flash updates. My car feels 30 Hp down on power with turbo lag now. I am told this lag issue will be gone with the tune. Marcell really is an enthuiasts and he does also drive a 335i, that is pretty fast. He also offers more tuning then just flashes, like FMIC and exhausts and dyno work. I just want a decent stage two tune. I am sure he will come thru for me. Dackel |

I talked to Peter Schroop, a respected tuner out of Stuttgart when I got dyno'd inn October, and he said he wouldn't go above 360 without FMIC and other hardware mods....how are you reaching 380?
I was actually leery about getting flashed and the dealership swore they wouldn't run software updates...when I picked up my car after getting the third brake light fixed, it had just come off of 5 hours of coding/upgrading. But I have to say my car is peppier than before (golftee mod never noticed) and now I have the N55 JB3 installed so low rpm isn't quite as dynamic as I'd hoped but midrange throttle is awesome. |

With the SW update the lag is really slight. But once you feel it... it drives me crazy. Because th throttle response is just not there anymore - like it pulled before. The best way I can say to make the lag noticeable is get on and off and BACK ON the throttle... then you will feel the lag. The engine acutally feels better above 5K roms... but the low and mid range just doesn't pull like before.
I will make a full report (with photos) after I have Marcel tune my car. He knows what he is doing and there are a lot of gougs on the 1er forum who have his tune. I have also seen some other tuners make more than 360 PS without a FMIC. Alpinia is one, also Digi-Tech and TechTech. But like I said I am not gonna get hung up over the number game. I just want great throttle response with a ton of power. I feel confident that Marcel knows what he is doing. I have talked to other people who have otten his flash... and they are happy even one year later. So that is a big plus. We can talk more at the Welt meeting on the 21st. |

Sounds like fun and not to be an old lady, but you really should do the suspension first David...

Rikx, that is the guy we met at Hockenheim in the 335i that was with another guy that had a 335i with M3 rims. His car really pulls on the straights when we were on the track. Great fellow to talk to and very knowledgable. He would definetly be a option if I decide to change to a flash.
Are you doing your flash before or after the 'Ring meet, David?
