Pets are more than just an animal, they are family
My dog of 15 years this morning at 3:45 passed away...He has been battling heart issues for the last 3 years and this morning he met his match...He was breathing erratic the whole entire day yesterday..He usually sleeps with us in our bed, but last night I left him downstairs because the air was better, plus he had access to water...The whole entire day, he couldn't even walk gasping for air and needed to be lifted and brought outside to pee...I left him downstairs last night before i went to bed, and this morning with his last bit of energy he climb off the couch and went up two staircases to my room to let me know he could not hold on any longer. I have no idea how he found the strength to walk up those stairs but its quite remarkable how an animal knows to interact with humans even when its letting them know that they are saying goodbye for the very last time..He came looking for me to say goodbye...My wife and I got him and brought him back downstairs and he had this look of fear in his eyes all while gasping hard for air...Within 30 minutes he took his last breathe...People who never owned a pet before will not realize the pain and hurt one feels when a beloved animal passes away...I am a total wreck but trying to hold it together but there are many uncontrollable urges to cry...Today nothing really matters, but with time my family will heal...

Sorry to hear bro. Dogs are mad loyal. He wanted to see you and your wife before he goes. He's not suffering anymore. Crushes me to read this as I'm a dog owner myself.

It doesn't matter how big/little they are, dogs have the heart and the loyalty of champions.
Sorry for your loss.

Thanks guys...The part that really makes me cry is the fact of him climbing those stairs and he couldn't even breathe (like someone on Anthrax) determined to let me know he couldnt hold on any longer and wanted to see us for the last time...He could have just passed away where I left him but his drive is quite remarkable and its a true testiment to how loyal dogs are...I am a wreck..

Sorry for your loss. I am a huge dog lover myself and don't know what I would do without my two pups.

Sorry to hear bro. I understand first hand. someone close to me had a cat that she loved dearly for 20 human years. He died this past winter. Pets aren't just a pet, they are family.

I'm sorry for you loss. Nothing gives love as unconditionally as a dog does, and your lil guy proved that by soldiering up the stairs. And you know, he was very lucky to die with the people he loved, and who loved him in return by his side.
ps. do not under any circumstances read the poem "the Rainbow Bridge" that they usually send with the dogs remains if you have him cremated. It's cheesy and designed to make you cry. It's evil. Just "say no to the Rainbow".
