Exclamation Knocking sound in Engine

Well I have about 3000 miles on my E90 now and from the very beginning when I picked it up in Germany it would sometimes make this knocking noise when the engine is turned off. So most of the time when I hit the start/stop button to turn the engine off it shuts down kinda hard. Ive had BMW's in the past and none of them have had this happen. Does anyone else have this problem?

P.S. Any advice on how to get ball point pen marks out of the leather?

Thanks....

Could it be you are using less than 93 octane fuel??? I was tempted to use regular 87, but members on this board convinced me otherwise. Anyway, that's all I can think of.

For pen marks, try saddle soap...you should find this or something like it at an auto parts store. It'll clean and protect.

Is it a manual ? Are you holding the clutch in when shutting off, if not do so and see if it makes a difference

I have the same noise when I shutoff the engine.
I use 91 octane fuel.

I'm going to let my tank go to the bare minimum and then fill up at 93. I'll let you know if I notice a difference.

I have noticed the same thing when shutting off the car. I think it is best described as a klack..klack..type of noise. When pushing in the clutch while shutting the engine off reduces much of the klacking noise, but there is still some noise. I am not sure if it is normal, but all my previous non BMW cars shut down silently. Anyone else?

BMW said they were having problems with oil consumption, are you sure your not low? The one problem i have is having no dipstick on the E90, I just really like seeing it for myself.
