Awesome brakes

I have had my 330xi for about a year but tonight I got to put the brakes to the test. I was on a curvy backroad doing about 45, at dusk, when a large deer jumped out of the woods in front of me at about 2 car lengths. Fortunately, I pay close attention to driving. I don't drive distracted. I slammed the pedal and the ABS kicked in instantly. The car just stopped like I hit a wall ,with no strange behaviors. Kudos to BMW brakes.

Naw, BMW brakes ARE world-class. Or at least class-leading.

One of the big reasons I like the cars so much. Car that can go fast but not stop fast = carnival ride.

Brakes are only a part of what happens. Depends on speed, wind resistance, tire traction, weight of your car, weight of DAT ASS on you, passengers, suspension, etc.

Brakes are an important part of a performance vehicle and BMW does a great job with their brakes.

i went on a test drive of a 550i once and the sales guy takes the car out the lot on a back road and says to us, i'm going to show you how amazing this car is. I'm gonna do a 0-60 then count to 3 and go from 60-0 with my hands in the air. seatbelts on please. he took off, in no time we were at 60 he then goes ok ready? puts his hands in the air and stomps on the brakes. i swear i felt like i was on a roller coaster!

Yeah, I know it's tough for many to appreciate BMW brakes because all they care about is closing the gap between the tire and the wheel arch. Some people still care about real performance, like me. OK. BMW does a good job engineering a balance of performance and street-ability. It's not just about fins, painted calipers, 20" wheels, and being able to scrape dried up worms off the pavement with your chin spoiler.
