Exclamation Low Battery sign

I get this yellow low battery sign once in a while. I cant leave the radion on for more than 10 mins without the engine running. My battery is old but not totally bad yet. Do i have to change the battery to solve the problem or just recharge the battery??

Change the battery unless you want to be strangled somewhere on the side of the road.
It's 5 years old at this point too, way overdue for a replacement.

What year is the car and how old is the battery? 5 years according to profile...

It could need a new battery, most last 3-5 years, depending on climate, driving use etc.

Or, you may have a charging issue, or a short, which in turn is draining the battery, so a new one would not solve the issue. Take to a specialist or BMW.

I accidentally left an an accessory plugged into the glove box power socket (stays powered even when the car is off), got the low battery warning a few times that week after said incident.

I figured I'd need a new battery, but in the meantime, took a half an hour drive on the highway, cruise control, to let it charge from the alternator.

It's been a few months now, and I haven't had the battery warning come on since. I guess I bought some time. Try it!

My battery is 4 years old, left parking lights on all day at airport and had to get a jump, then had BMW put on trickle charge overnight and test battery, been fine for 6 months.

on the E90Post.com there is a DIY section on the battery install/reset/issues.

+ a gajillion. Follow the correct procedures or you'll have more headaches than you know what to do with. Changing the battery in this car isn't as simple as unhooking 2 terminals and swapping it out.
