Hold down the DTC button for 5 seconds to disable the traction control.

Ease the shifter over into SPORT MODE (left).

Hold the foot brake and at the same time build the RPMs to about 1700 - let off the brake and floor it at the same time.

Let the transmission shift itself at redline - don't even touch the paddle shifters.

This should yield a mid 13 second quarter mile at 102-104 mph.

If the rear tires spin in a cloud of smoke, then your RPMs were probably too high.
There should be a little tire spin, then they should HOOK and all you have to do is
point the car!

I never just use ds mode only because if you don't use the paddles won't the car be in 2nd gear?

i thought ideally, torque launch from around 2400 rpm in (2nd) with dsc and dtc off. shift at 6100.

DS won't downshift to first by itself after you've already started shifting manually.

If you leave DS alone and let it do its thing, it'll downshift to first at a stop.

Dunno. Brake torquing in an automatic transmission is not a very smart idea.

Maybe, BMW built it to withstand brake torque launches? However, in the past many BMW autoboxes blew themselves up after a few brake torque launches.

If you DONT touch the paddles in DS mode, the car still shifts itself... Just at higher RPM. Once you touch the paddles, then you would have to shift yourself, but whats the big deal? you don't even have a clutch to worry about, its the easiest thing to do
