HPFP Dilemma PLEASE HELP
So I have about 47,000mi on my n54 and my HPFP has not failed on me ever... I have never been stranded, or had long cranks. I have however had wastegate rattling issues for a long time. They seemingly fixed it back in October until about a month ago when it came back with a vengeance and seems louder than it was before. So it is back in the shop, they found a pinched vacuum line which they are saying could be the cause (I highly doubt) but I'll know by Monday. While it is in the shop they said they want to do the campaign for the HPFP recall. I told them I have not had any issues, and am worried if they replace it then I will start to experience what lots of you experience. I told them to hold off until after they fix the wastegates then I will make a decision. I know some people say it is not a matter of if but when these fail, so I'd rather get it replaced now then be stranded on a highway. But are there more people in my boat who have never replaced theirs and still running strong? Is the newer design better than what I have (mine is a 2007)

someone else should chip in, but from what i understand, the pumps aren't the reason they are failing. each pump released is just more "durable" than the last so i would go ahead with the recall.

I had all 3 parts of the recall performed and I'm rather happy with the performance so far. No long cranks, no morning rough idle, and my gas mileage is slightly better than before.
*knock on wood*

I'm curious about this too. Going in for the recall this Monday to replace my HPFP that has been fine for 73,000 miles. I hope it's not a mistake to do so!

I had the the pump and software upgrade done under recall a month ago (@ 62k miles). I still had the original pump and never had any problems with it. To be honest, I did not feel any difference with the new pump. Feels exactly the same.
