Whos does/doesnt have a factory alarm installed on their 3?

Just came back from the dealership and im blown away at what they try to charge to get a factory alarm installed on a e92. They told me over $700. $330 for the part 1.5 hours of labor to install it and another 1.5 hours of labor to code the part. is this like a late april fools day joke?? I had an alarm installed on my e90 and it was cheaper now i bring in my e92 its more money?
From my knowledge 3 series do not come from the factory with alarms, just internal sensors. So although the car cannot be stolen just about everything inside it can be!

Its funny because the service advisor is a cool dude and always takes care of me, he kinda persuaded me into not wasting my money to even get it installed, but i got a set of rims that cost around 4k with tires that im about to throw on the car, id atleast like to hear my alarm go off is someone tires stealing the damn things.

SO my question is who has or has not goten a factory alarm installed? Any alternatives or places i can go to to get it done for less $??

it all depends on if your car was pre wired or not, what year is it?

if its pre wired, we can install the components ( not much money) and code it very cheap all at once

I was really considering doing that, i can get my hands on the part, i just dont know when ill be able to install it myself. The DIY guide seems do-able imo.

I had one put in my old '07 328-xi coupe at my dealership. Total for Alarm/Install/coding was around $400.

Your dealership is charging too much.

About 30-45 minutes to install the hardware. Hardest part is taking the wheel off and getting those damn nuts on the the siren mount.
3-5 minutes for coding.

I don't think they "break it down" there, they seemed to treat it all as one job because when I called to check price and availability, the SA just told me "it's around $400" for everything. At the time, I think that's about what people were paying around here, so it seemed inline.

Its crazy to hear a number range from $400-$700 ... i can understand like 400-500 but 700 is almost double what most people say it should cost. The car is prewired for the alarm. just out of curiosity, i'm going to call a few other local dealerships to see what they quote an install for. I would rather get it done elsewhere.

If it beeps/chirps when you lock the car, then you have an alarm. And also, if the "clown nose" under your rearview mirror blinks, then you have an alarm.

With the disclaimer that you can install the alarm your self, the clown nose will blink - but the alarm is still not fully functional until it is coded into the VO of the car...

yes you're is pre wired too!!

if you guys wonder if your pre wired, and not sure, open your hood, and look on the cowl on the driver side, and see if there is a wire clipped on next to the master cylinder panel, it should be a wire with a cap on the end. if you have that, then your pre wired

Thats the route im taking going to install it as soon as it arrives... dealers selling the part for $330 but bavauto.com has the genuine bmw alarm system (same part as dealer) for $291.00 w/ free shipping. im gonna give the install a go and see how it turns out. i will then find someone or someoplace that can take care of the coding for me. Beats the hell out of the $700 + tax that the dealer is trying to rape me for.
