2011 N55 335i

What's the difference between the JB3 N55 Stage 1 BMW Performance
Mapping and the JB+ I'm looking at one of these or would getting
both work? Not sure how that works.

The JB3 has lagfix which obviously helps with the lag. I believe that that is mostly it.

Thanks I wasnt sure which one to get. Do you think I would feel an increase in power with that? I know what the dynos show but real world driving would it be noticeable?

You'd get one or the other. The JB+ quick install makes about the same power and is smoother, but lacks the lag reduction of the JB3 Stage1. For those who already have the Stage1 they can simulate the JB+ with it using firmware posted on BMS' site to feel the differences and compare. Although the install time isn't too bad with the JB3 Stage1 it's 1000% easier with the new JB+.

Cool,

Thanks Mike. What quarter mile times do you think I could get with just a JB+ ?

I posted some times a few days ago but BMS did 12.7@111 with their 135i DCT. JB+ as the only mod.

Hey man, are you still having problems with your JB3 that you bought from me? I read your other thread that you were having similar problems with it as what I had, and i'm suspicious now that Terry did not send me a new one as he told me he did. So i'm hoping they could help you out if thats the case.

Garage List
2008 BMW  [6.24]
The current tunes for the N55 are immature and do not alter the air/fuel ratios despite the fact that they are adding boost. Get the BMW Performance Power Kit and wait about 8 months until someone comes up with a proper flash...

Hey Sloppy,

You had the same problems? I haven't gone into limp mode for a few weeks now, but I haven't really come across a very cold morning. What problems did you have with yours?

It first started shortly after i installed it for the first time, where the car would be going into limp mode while driving normally. Never when i stumped on it. If I were just cruising on the highway around a constant 65mph it would all of a sudden go into limp mode. I had checked the codes thrown before shutting off the engine and it was always the same ones... I forget the exact codes but it was basically that the computer could not read a wastegate signal as Terry told me. He thought it was a cold weather problem, so he gave me an update which helped for alittle bit, but then almost gaurenteed every time i would start the car and drive for 5 min. i would get the half engine light. WHich is why he asked me to ship it out to him which I immediately did ... and he did not have time to test it so he said he would send me a new one. I received it and never even put it in as i had already ordered the procede at that time. So this is the one that you have now, and if your having the same problems then i'm wondering if he sent me the old one back? I dunno...

Same problem I have, it also goes out in regular driving or on the highway..never while driving aggressively. On very cold mornings I could almost anticipate when its going to go out.. A friend had installed in for me and after I told him the problems I was having he emailed Terry about it. Terry just said that it's in beta and that I need to live with it, but I haven't seen anybody else with this problem. Should I try to email him again? But then again, it hasn't gone out for about a month now

I dont know, its kinda up to you. If you start having issues with it then I would not put up with it too much. Maybe he is getting the same kind of feedback from other users even though they dont post up here. Hopefully he'll get the jb4 out for n55 and you can upgrade to that.

They post firmware and updates to their forum regularly so that would be the best place to get information or help with it. I think they isolated that problem random check engine light during cruise down to a specific DME software from BMW and are working on getting that update on their development N55 as I type this.

Until then it's easy to update the firmware and run the JB+ simulation mapping. Many users have been very impressed with it!

Quote:
On the tuning we have a new firmware trying to address a low throttle check engine light a couple have reported. Haven't been able to recreate it in any local cars so perhaps climate related.

Also added a map 6 to it for those who want to see how the N55 JB+ feels/drives in comparison to the stage1. It's tied in to the "iat decay" user adjustable and 0-100 represents 0-100% on the dial. 50% (or iat decay = 50) is suggested.

The new firmware is in the first post.

Firmware, updates, user notes, etc, are always posted on n54tech.
