Right Rear light Bulb is Burned ! And How do I get it To Work?
My right rear parking light is out and I tried to change the bulb but that doesn't work as well. I'm thinking that it has something to do with the bulb carrier? This is for an e92 07 and it's out of warranty? Should I go to the dealer or is this something I can do myself?
It's # 4 in the diagram. |

I had the same problem
My wife had a 2004 325i and her rear light went out. I thought it was a simple fix by replacing the bulb with a new one, but it wasn't. I took the car to my mechanic who repaired it. I forgot exactly what he did because we sold the car, but he said it's a common problem and he had to rewire the wires. Try Googling it.

Go to the trunk and take out the piece of liner on the side you want to work on. Should just have to twist the black dial and it loosens it. When u get to the brake assembly u squeeze the gray piece (I believe) it pops out a larger assembly and just pluck the bulb out. It's all easy and shouldnt have to use lots of power

Funny, my 07 just started giving me "right rear brake lamp out" warnings on the dash, but I looked at the rear of the car and the bulbs look fine. The warning only comes on sometimes, every 5 or 6 starts it'll pop up.

Mine went out when the car was less that 6 mos. old. The dealership told me it wasn't just the bulb, it was the carrier. Only on a German car, right? I've seen new E92's with one side of the front lights out.

Have the same bulb i think, on the same side out now. But for me its the braking bulb, and last time i checked you have to brake to light it up so put some weight on the brake pedal or have someone brake for you and see if it lights up. Also check the error codes.

what does tsb stand for? But yeah, I have been researching and it does seem like it's a common problem with the bulb carrier.... However, I switched the whole bulb carrier from the non-working right to the working left wire harness and it worked! So I don't think it's necessarily the carrier itself, but more so something with the electrical harness.

When I brake the bulb lights up like normal, however when I turn on the headlights, that particular bulb should stay on, but it does not.

All kidding aside, it does look like the part is $19. But does recoding need to take place? It reminds me of a 200 series Volvo I once had. If a lamp went out, it was not the lamp nor socket, it was the printed circuit, and it cost I think $70, and they'd have to be replaced over and over. It made me wonder why Europeans make things overly complicated....
p.s. what provides light to the light bars running through the assy? |
