Transmission Fault Warning

Driving down the M4 today the above warning message came up. I had felt like the box wasnt responding as quick on kickdown, then, as I went to overtake it wouldnt do anything and the message came up. Revs went up as i assumed it dropped me to a lower gear to protect the box. Pulled over to the hard shoulder, switched the car off and left for a minute, switched it back on and fault gone and did not return for the remainder of the journey (about an hour).

I spoke to the dealer and they think its fine and dont need to bring it in, does anyone think it is worth still getting it checked out? I have noticed a strange hesitation on kickdown at higher speeds, i.e. the box jolts and doesnt seem to know what gear to engage, then it jolts again and gets going, anyone else experienced this?

If the problems repeatable then dealer it.

Always helps to read codes from the car with a code reader for diagnosis

Have you tried doing the (CRTL ALT DEL) reset on your gearbox?

1. Hop into car and without foot on brake push key in and press start
2. Press accelerator to the floor passed point of resistance until u feel a click
3. Hold foot in place for 30 or so sec....
4. Thats it remove key get out and restart....

your gearbox now resets itself...or so its claimed...this works but I wonder does it slightly have the placebo effect
