BMW Stainless Steel Pedal Set

Hello all,

I posted this in the DIY section, but that section doesn't seem to be very active. I am going to purchase the BMW OEM stainless steel pedal set for my 2011 335i E92. I have automatic transmission.

Here is the DIY link to see which pedals I am talking about-

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75322

Can anyone tell me if the kickdown mode still works with the new pedal? It would be a bummer if the new accelerator module does not have the kickdown switch!

Please note that the whole accelerator module is being changed, not just the cover. For the brake pedal, the only the cover gets changed.

Thanks!

Can't confirm, but I'd be more than a little surprised if it didn't work exactly like the original pedal. That's just a cosmetic change so the rest of the module should be the same as OEM.

You need to find a matching overlay for the Dead Pedal. Looks odd with the stock black and the SS pedals.

Yeah it would be surprising, since it is an OEM replacement. Moreover, as I was going through the DIY, some people claimed that the new pedal has to be coded in, but other said it works fine without any coding.

I am ordering it from Tischer. I initially wanted to have the local dealer install it, but they refused stating that they won't install parts purchased somewhere else, due to liability issues. They were charging way too much for the pedal compared to Tischer's price.

I have the M-Sport package, so the dead pedal has a SS overlay.

Thanks for the response

Recommendation: If the brake pedal gives you any trouble getting it sliped on, do NOT decide to use your wife/girlfriend's "personal" lubricant. Trust me.

I appreciate the recommendation, however there is virtually no chance of using a personal lubricant considering I am single.

I plan on using CVS bought Isopropyl Alcohol to install the pads.

I had it for a little. The pedal does have a kickdown, but it feels different from my 2010 E92's kickdown. The kickdown on my car is a click, which I like, and the kickdown on that pedal is actually softer. I have a 2001 E39 and it feels like that, so I would argue that it's an older design.

PS: You're going to be extra pissed at trying to put the brake one on. Isopropyl isn't going to do you any good. Just going to make your fingers slipperier.

Thanks. Is it difficult to take off the existing, factory brake pedal cover?

Getting them off is very easy.

That's the easiest part. The pedal is also easy, as it's just held on by one screw and a slide-on tab. Putting on the brake pedal requires painkillers. The worst part is when the metal separates from the rubber and you have to find a way to get them both on at once. Protip: Putting on the rubber first won't work.
