turn signal trouble

left turn signal went out in my car. puchased new bulb and socket and its still inop. any ideas .

Just purchased used 325ci for daughter for graduation gift. light do not flash when you lock doors and courtesy light does not come on when you unlock it . Any ideas my 06 does this. Any recomendation on how to make flash to pass as daytime running light
