New car, 2011 Mini Cooper S!!!
Well, you may have seen my previous posts about getting out of my problematic 320 E92 for a hatch such as a Clio sport or Alfa Mito.
After a lot of thought, and careful consideration, I decided it was time to get rid of the car. However, at the time I didnt think I'd end up with a mini. I test drove most hot hatches, completely forgetting about the Cooper S. After visiting BMW, the mini garage caught my eye and I had to go for a look. It was then that I first saw my new car! Sitting in the showroom was a brand new cooper s, metallic black with pretty good spec. After 2 days of haggling with the dealer and a very, very exciting test drive, I eventually traded in the 320 for the Cooper. Picked her up over the weekend, and I have not stopped smiling. From feeling down in the dumps, to completely lifted. Its amazing how a car can have such and effect on you. Every drive is exciting, and for a 1.6 it pulls like a train! Not only did my payments drop, I got rid of my negative equity and saved ~ £200 on insurance. So got a payment from Admiral today! Despite being 21, I managed to get a rebate! No idea how! Plus.....chicks dig it! I'll get pics up as soon as I get decent weather. Thanks for all the advice in the other thread, but for £1500, I couldn't say no to the offer! |

Nice to hear that you've got out of your awkward situation. Did you put the £2k you had spare towards paying the negative equity - or did you use it as the extra cash on top of the price of the cooper?

Great news - Having had a Cooper S Convertible in the past, I know what a fantastic little car the Cooper S is. And to be out of Negative equity and paying less each Month. I bet you find you will save on fuel too.

The supercharged one is - I think the Turbo charged one's do about 45mpg. Still, I can't imagine it being anywhere near that when you're in a hurry. Probably late 20's. Still not bad.

Visual boost is cool.....but such a gimmick IMHO! It basically places all your options on a revolving menu, making it easier to choose. In fact....who am I kidding....its cool as hell!
I've never specc'd nav on a car, and didnt see the need to as I never use nav But its the Cooper S, Metallic black, Chilli pack, rear tints, black leather, bluetooth and USB Interface, on-board computer, piano black trim, 17" Alloys (forget the name?) The black and chrome looks awesome, and the rear tints are subtle not chavvy, and the car sounds fantastic. The sports button sharpens up the steering and the exhaust tone is fantastic. Drop down a gear while maintaining revs and it burbles and pops away. I basically cleared the old car off, and Mini paid £1000 deposit towards the car. So saving £40 a month on payments, as well as saving on fuel. The 320 was £88 to fill, and the Mini is cheaper, but appear to be getting a hell of a lot better MPG! Only issue is keeping the beauty clean! Anyone got any advice or tips for keeping the black looking good? |

MP - my specialist subject...!
You'll need: A patient other half. A good pressure washer. A snow foam lance. A clay bar (even from brand new) Some good polish/sealant (I use Zaino Pro 5) Some wheel sealant. A load of decent microfibre cloths. Armed with that lot, it'll be MUCH easier to keep clean - water just beads and falls off, dirt seems to struggle to stick and if it does, the wheel sealant and wax/sealant makes it super easy to clean. Sounds like a cracking car - enjoy! |

Well, the Wife's 2002 mini with the Panoramic roof, was deafening above 50 mph, so much so it put a potential buyer off whilst road testing it. I think it’s because the opening is so much wider than a normal roof.

I had a 1st generation BMW Mini Cooper with a sunroof and you couldn't go above 40 MPH with it open, at 50 it was unbearable - perhaps they sorted it with the 2nd generation.
