Formula 1 - BMW team

Anyone here follow F1? What are your thoughts on BMW leaving Williams?

Should we cheer the new Sauber team next year?

IMO, Alonso won on Raikonnen's team inability to get a car to the finish and the 1 tire rule. 1 Tire rule destroyed Bridgestone shod teams this year. Sad to see Ferrari slip so badly

I'll be cheering on the new Sauber-BMW alliance! I don't follow F1 seriously though, I just watch the last 15 laps or so whenever I catch a race on.

Forza Ferrari. I hope they get things right next season.

The new BMW team is my second favourite.

Mario Thiessen has promised BMW the championship in 2007. Well lets hope so.

Did I correctly hear something about the major teams planning to break away and forming their own racing league of some sort?

Yeah, according to Patrick Head from the Williams team. However, Mr Theissen hasn't promised that. Just saw the news at mtv3's website.
It's going to be tough first seasons for the BMW team but I hope they manage to win some races.

BTW, It would be disaster if the major car manufacturers would break away from the F1 series. Who would care to watch two similar series (F1 - GPWC), both being less interesting than the F1 had been before?

Agree with Hornet. 2 series will be too much to watch.

Last Japan race was the most exciting I've seen in years. Too bad there were not more races with similar overtaking during the year. Go Kimi!

Unless BMW has been keeping a secret engine in the back burner, I doubt their odds for FY06. Let's hope for FY07 wins. IMO Thiessen is being overly aggressive on his promise!!!

Ah well - Let's see if McLaren can beat Renault in the last race of the year. I'm willing to bet that Ron Dennis is sorry for his Montoya/Coulthard trade.

The new team will be under BMW's banner only. Sauber simply sold the team to BMW, so it's BMW's team.

I'm glad BMW broke away, Frank Williams was a great man, but I think he's lost what it's taken to win in F-1, this allaince had the makings of something great....now that BMW owns it's own team, they have shown that they really have a commitment to F-1...........THE JEDI

I do have to say that i understand why the car companies want to start their own series. Eccelstone gave alot of money to Ferrari so that ferrari would not go to gpwc, they dont want to start a series without ferrari. I think F1 was much better in the 90s than its now.

What he said. As much as I respect Sir Frank Williams, I think BMW made the right decision to pull out. The German-British allaince would not do any good to either party had it continued. Both are great teams, but they are just one of those things that you can't mix up.

I somehow feel sorry for Williams. Having both engine supplier and major sponsor (HP) pulling out at the same time must be hard on an independent team like Williams. I don't think it will be long until we see Frank Williams selling his team.

mag, great advert btw

Ferrari sucks. Montoya and Kimi rule.

Alonso is an arrogant Spanish guy and let's hope BMW wins the championship in 2007.

IMHO

Ferrari is F1. The constructors series don;t stand a chance on their own without ferrari.

Having said that, go-Kimi.

You don't htink Montoya is more arrogant than Alonso?!? Or any F1 champion contendor? To compete at that level takes the most serious egomaniac for any sport.
