*****Official Australian GP Thread*****

So Friday practise all completed.

Webber fastest from Vettel in the first session.

2nd session Button fastest from Hamilton, Alonso and Vettel.

Pretty close that 2nd session. That top 4 covered by a tenth and a half

supposed to rain for Quali tomorrow!!

Looking forward to it.

Watching it at work on iplayer, very excited for this new season

Pleased that the mclarens are looking more competitive after their fiasco with the exhaust system.

Goods times for both of them, Schumacher putting in some interesting times.

Still, waiting till tomorrow, they are all over a second off last years qualifying pace. Could tyres and double defused really make that much difference. Not quite, but i expect qualifying times to be in 1.24.... So a lot more to give and a lot more action to come.

I will probably record the quali, but definitely be watching the race live. Does the BBC one race coverage / programme start at 5AM GMT or BST? (I am guessing BST but just want to double check).

Recording quali but getting up early

Interesting to see the complete lack of downforce under braking if you leave the rear wing open too long. Think it's a stupid idea myself.

Should be an intresting race tommorrow, but I think Vettel ("we are who we are" ) will win it.

Cant believe how far back Webber is, and disappointed with Schumi @ 11th; hopefully he can make up a few places tommorrow

And excellent job by Sauber!

Both Hamilton and Vettel didn't have Kers in their fastest laps .... just shows how quick these drivers are, Kers is worth about .3s

They do but everyone is saying how bad mark did.

No

Vettel is just out of this world. He's half a second quicker than last year and he was good then. Thats with less downforce. Mclarens doing very well.

But vettel is driving very similar to the great Senna. Driving on instinct not his head. Let's see how he manages his tyres this year to give us a true picture of how brilliant he can be at detecting when the grip is about to go.

Vettel drives with his head mate. He made his Tyres last well last season and he will do this season.

Senna too drove with his head also, both very naturally talented and head strong. Two attributes needed for success.

Senna was very naturally gifted. This does not mean he didn't use his head.

According to James Allen the RBR cars have Kers but its only for the start, hence why it looked like Vettel wasn't using his, whereas Hamiltons stopped working, which effects his brake balance and overall car balance. This means the gap should be closer, also Kers may come in to play later, as the RBRs would have to conserve fuel earlier.

Should be a good race ..

Not as much change with the tyres as i thought.

Perez, WTF? I wished they would have got a close up of his tyres.

Lets just hope hamiltons floor was intact enough and deemed as damage not failure.

Was just about to post how well the Saubers did, only to find that they have been DQ'ed for a rear wing infringement.

Bad day for Schumi and Webber too

RBR said at the end that KERS wasn't fitted at all - but they didn't want to tell anyone. They ran it on Friday, then binned it over reliability concerns.

Gutted that the Saubers were DQ'd but I guess they'd not have been on the pace so well if playing fairly so it's the correct decision.

Also thought the stewards' move on Button was harsh as to me he'd taken the place and then Massa pushed him off track.. IE go over there or I'll smash into the side of you. So I don't see why Button got punished???

Massa winds me up more and more as time goes on tbh.

Oh well Good result for Hamilton especially considering the state of his undertray! Can't have been helping at all..

And Vettel is going to walk the championship this year.. Sadly for me, as I don't love him. Although I'd rather hi mthan anyone bar ham or Button I guess! Never much liked Webber...
