some autocross vids
I autocrossed most of last season in ST class with a SVT Focus, but the engine needed a rebuild, bad piston rings allowing oil to blow by.
So this season I'm autocrossing my E90 335i... I did ok considering this was the first time autocrossing in the 335 and this events location is on the tight side due to space constraints. I'm at least a second and a half slower than where I would have been with my SVTF, but I also had much better tires and a suspension setup perfect for tight courses - so wheels and tires are on the wish list after I get some springs and maybe struts /dampeners. First run Second run I was a little too heavy on the throttle coming through two gates so I pegged a cone on the third gate coming back towards the starting area. And the Third I got the gates just about perfect. I know I lost a lot of time in the sweepers as well as the hairpin. I haven't really felt the limit in this car yet and these Nitto Invo's are more of a summer Rain tire than an Extreme performance tire like a Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec - what I ran on last year. Here's a map of the course to get a little bit better idea of how it was laid out: |
