Official Fuel Economy, 2011 335is vs 2010/2011 335i, insurance note.

If you like to factor everything into your monthly payment or at least like to consider extra costs of owning....

Since my 335is is a couple of weeks away... I found that fueleconomy.gov lists the 2011 335is. I won't drive 15k in a year but just FYI to everyone else.

I expect it will cost me $200 more a year over a 2011 335i or $100 over a 2010 with the same N54 engine or $100 more than my current E46. This would mean $8 bucks a month. I currently get about 16-19mpg lead footed. BTW insurance will be $250 more a year on a 335is or about $20 bucks a month.

2011 335is DCT
Annual Fuel Cost* $3006 Prem Gas, 19 Combined, 17 City, 24 highway

2010 335i Auto
Annual Fuel Cost* $2858 Prem Gas, 20 Combined, 17 City, 26 highway

2011 335i Auto (N55 engine versus N54 on 335is)
Annual Fuel Cost* $2600 Prem Gas, 22 Combined, 19 City, 28 highway

Annual Fuel Costs are based on 45% highway driving, 55% city driving, and 15000 annual miles. Assumed Fuel Prices: Regular: 3.57, Midgrade: 3.69, Premium: 3.81

FYI a manual M3 is about $350 more a year in fuel cost over a 335is.

Good informative post. Thanks for posting facts from reputable source... Recently some here were believing mistaken marketing material fuel eco rather than the official Transport Canada or EPA website, claiming no delta in fuel Eco between n54 and n55.

Having said that, the actual annual delta in dollars is rarely a reason to turn down one car over another - at least until you get to m5 levels (or rx8) levels of thirst.

One of my previous project cars was a 72 Lincoln with a 460ci (7.5L) engine, with a big cam and no vacuum advanced distributor. I think I was knocking down about 9 mpg.
