FMIC or Downpipes
Hey Guys,
I'm considering getting downpipes or an FMIC but not sure which one to get first. I'll probably get one now and then the other in like 3 monthes. I'm about to get downpipes but thinking about it, summer is coming and I live in NJ where it can get pretty hot. I have an 07 335xi with Injen DCI and JB4...What do you guys think would be the logical move 1st. Downpipes or a FMIC?

Intercooler, but thats my opinion. It will lower the IAT's which will make for a more consistent car as well as fight off heatsoak. Downpipes will free up more power, but you will heatsoak much quicker with the stock intercooler.

I understand, but from dyno's the FMIC still gains anywhere from 15-25 whp....downpipes are around 25-35 why...sound about right

Unless you know a good shop or have a nice work environment, the xi dps are going to be murder to install. (From what all the xi guys with dps say)
The IC is going to be much easier to install. |

lol @ it getting hot in NJ. for those 3 weeks ya'll are dying, uh !?!? HAHA !!!!!
anyways, since you're in NJ, get the dp's. FMIC is beneficial if you're in Houston, or Miami, or Birmingham, or New Orleans, or Atlanta....... |

Northern NJ is already a dump; no environmental harm rooted to catless downpipes will make a shit. Seriously, I discovered a FMIC makes a difference, even in cold weather. The dyno room was a chilly 55 degrees last month when I added the ETS intercooler. The dyno results show significant gains between 5100-6500 RPM, picking up 40 HP to the wheels at 6100 RPM. I'm using the Cobb AP Stage 1 tune, but even stock tuned cars can benefit. |

Oh, I've experienced Houston. Not fun. But 115 deg everyday sucks every bit as much.

Just got back from Autocouture just a lil while ago....Sal and Tommy are the best, great place...put my VK downpipes on and the car is totally different. Car is very throaty now and sounds amazing. Much more responsive and just pulls and pulls. The sound is awesome and I can't be any happier. Once I find a FMIC in the next month or two, that will be the next install. I was in map 2 with the JB4, intake, and DP's and the car is just a totally new beast. AMAZING...
