15mm spacers in rear ONLY. Negatively affect handling?
I'd be running this set-up w/ stock sport suspension and 18" 162's. Anyone have any input/experience? Thanks.

There are tons of people running this set up.
If you increase your width in the rear you may want to increase it in the front too to keep it proportionate

I'm running 20mm in my rear and 15mm in the front on my stock 18s the famous 162's but I first had my rears in and my friend said my car looked like a triangle going down the road cuz my rears were spaced out and my fronts were sunk in so..hope this helps

It may reduce the 'balance' of the car but if driven properly the wider track will increase handling capabilities.
By balance I mean the car may understeer more now. If you're just driving it on the street, experiment with it see if you like it. |

I've 15mm rear spacers only and running on 18 inch type 162 rims but with standard suspension (i.e non-sport). I felt the car less planted than before especially during cornering or round bends.
Actually I'm now considering to either remove the rear spacers or to add front spacers but what should be the width for the front 10/12/15mm ? Think ruffrider1818, gaifaun and bmroxm5 are right about maintaining the 'balance' and to keep it in 'proportion'. ruffrider1818 - did you feel the handling of the car less planted than before as well when you only had your rear spacers ? |

The only way you would notice an impact in handling is if you're truly pushing your car to the limits and tracking it. Staggered set-ups (which you achieve when running spacers in the rear) create understeer at the car's limits. You'll never notice if you don't track your car.

so the question remains, would we be better served with a staggered spacer setup (like 15 back and 12.5 front) or is it better to have the same spacer size throughout.

Well I do live on a windy road that goes up a mountain that I cruise at excess speeds all the time and ever since the spacers I've felt the handling to improve some, just a noticeable difference. But I should be getting my coilovers in this week so my car should be looking pretty nice on the spacers.
My whole thing about spacers is more for the looks to get my stock wheels flush and that wider stance, handling was the least of my concerns. But I could still feel a difference on turns I would take when I didn't have them. |

I added spacers purely for aesthetic reason too. Now I've only rear spacers fitted and I felt the car less planted than before. I'm trying to find out if adding front spacers will eliminate this problem. |

I would love to hear your review of this malter2.0. I have been considering this too. I would match front and rear - I have spent a pile to REDUCE understeer... I certainly don't want to put any back in.
Can you post some pics of 15mm in front/rear so we can see what it looks like? Thanks in advance.

But my wheels are not staggered 8" all around. BTW, LCI cars have a +24mm wider track at rear. |
