New 335+NOOB+Mods=HELP!
Hi all...while new here (and to BMW) I am an old guy who always mods his cars. I am about to sign off on ordering a '11 335d with the M Sport Pkg. But I want to upgrade the suspension/handling and want to ensure this move. After doing many searches and reading so many posts that my left eye and right eye now share the same eye socket, I thought I reach out to the more knowlegeable here to see if my "plan" is right. Below is what I plan to do but would like some of you to corrrect me if my knowledge quest here has proved faulty:
1) Install M3 Sway Bars and bushings, front and rear, from the '11 M3 convertible (which are the largest from BMW and fit the sedan, right?) 2) Install BMW Performance springs for the 335i sedan (part #'s I found where 31336788891 and 33536788898 and are higher rate than even the springs in the M Sport?) 3) Koni Yellow Sports for a 335i 4) M3 front strut tower brace 5) Change the RFT's to an Ultra-High Performance all weather tire (non-RFT) in a +1 or +2 size. While I would love to do a complete M3 suspension conversion, I think what is listed above will keep me (and the wallet) happy enough. If I have the info wrong or the parts I am looking to use do not work on the 335d please point me in the right direction. Appreciate any feed back for the new guy on the block. (PS...great site you have here........) |

No help for the new guy? Can anyone tell me if the parts I am planning on using are correct? Will fit a 335d? Do the BMW Performance springs have a higher spring rate than the ones in the M Sport Pkg?

That all sounds pretty good. I doubt that you'd notice much of a difference between Performance and M Sport pkg on regular roads... unless u want to track.. and even then...
Fitment of M3 suspension parts might need a bit of work since the vehicle is wider... although the wheelbase is the same. |

http://www.shopbmwusa.com/ProductDet...g&utm_content= According to Tischer, the correct part numbers for the springs for the d are: 31336788894, fronts, 88.09 each 33536788902, rears, 94.68 each To be absolutely certain that you get the correct springs, I suggest you contact Evan at Tischer (BMW) and give him your VIN; he'll make certain you get the correct springs. One other thing that might help, here's a monster thread about adding M3 parts to the E90: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184925
I might be worthwhile to contact the OP and ask his advice/experience on your ideas. Please keep me posted, I love what you're looking to do with your car! |

Diesels require a somewhat different suspension tuning approach than petrol 335s.
If it were my 335d, I would forego the strut brace and the M3 sways. Koni yellows with BMW Perf springs is guesswork, but probably OK. I would opt for AST 4100s with Swift springs, 450 front, 750 rear. M3 control arms. I would contact some Euro outfits that have experience with the 335d, like Alpina, Birds, and AST, and see what they recommend.
