brake warning light

hello all,
New to the forum and looking forward to using all of the great information I have come across already. So on to my problem. 2007 335i. Has a red light on the dash. Used the control center to get the code of cc-id71. Which seems to be from what Ive read a brake pad fault. All of the brake pads are 50%+ remaining. Is it possible I have a bad sensor? or is this the way the car is designed? any help and input would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

It could be a bad sensor you would have to check both of them, there are 2. One is at the drivers front and the other is at the passenger rear. Check from the sensor head by pulling it out and follow the wire all the way to the black box to check for and obvious damage.
