Hudson Valley Bmw Broke My Fender Don't Take Your Car There
I'm posting this knowing that there are many BMW owners in the area that may need service and I'm advising you take your work elsewhere, mainly because these dealers realize when they're doing jobs under warranty, they just don't give a S*** because they work off commission.
So here it goes... I took my car in for a service recently ( I was nearing 50k) and after leaving the car for an oil change, I picked it up, drove to a friends place to get out and see the fender pulled up and sitting about a quarter of an inch higher above the headlight where it meets the hood. I popped the hood to find that the fender was cracked under the front bracket and split to the top, I immediately called the dealer to bring the car back, but they informed me it would have to wait till the next morning because the service manager had left. I returned in the morning and the service manager looked over the "walk around" they performed before the car went into the shop and said they saw no damage done. Upon seeing the damage, they blamed the fact that my car has been lowered, and insisted I bottomed out, cracking the fender and will not take the blame (Clearly the only way the damage could have been caused is by yanking up on the fender) If i had bottomed out my entire front end would have to be torn to shreds before the fender would take damage. Needless to say I've never been satisfied with this dealer besides the kinda receptionist that's always been pleasant, but the tech's are sub par as well as the management staff. Frankly I've seen McDonald's that implement better structure and internal organization. The damage is going to cost about 1200 with parts and labor to have paint properly blended to replace the product, and it's quite obvious I'll never be returning there. I hope this saves someones perfectly nice bimmer from getting torn apart by a few people that couldn't give a damn about how much work you've put into your cars. -TSG- Last edited by Spettro; 03-07-2011 at 11:29 AM.. |

I feel you, and since you aren't too keen on that dealer, I guess they wouldn't be cool enough to own up to their error and disregard the ride height. But it just made it easier for them to blame you. Smh.

Yea it's pure nonsense, I just said to the guy I can't believe you're blatantly lying to my face, because there's no way that's what caused the damage they're just do full of it

Do we have to start taking pictures of our own cars now for the dealers to own up?...
Drop-off (Snap pics) Pick-up (Snap pics before even sitting in it) This should be unnecessary if you ask me?

Ask them to prove the wheel hit the underside of the fender...take a look if there are rub marks, if not, then you can prove it wasn't the lowered suspension.

When you put your car in, they circle spots in which shows damage. Tell them to show you that paper, and if u cant find them circling that spot, use it against them.
If they refuse, take a pic of it and start a law suit be sure to do your research well.. hehe Not sure if that would help though. |

Before u drop it off, use your phone to either take pics or video tape your car. It really shouldnt take more than 5 mins. Whenever I take it for a service, I usually wait about 5~10mins before SA comes to me anyways. I'm not kidding, it might look stupid and people might wonder what the hell you are doing but if something happens at least u have something to fight against instead of just get ass raped by some bad rep. dealers. iPhone! Droid! or whatever! use it!

I appreciate all the help guys, they did show me the paper and the damage wasn't there before hand. It was about 2 months ago now, do you think it's still worth it to try and get them in court? I'm not sure if it would be as powerful of a case being that I've waited quite some time.
