Any one recommend a detailer?

Hi all,

yesterday i Did my first ever detail on a car... my car. Thoroughly got to know every part of it too. I was inspired by some of the members in the wash wax detail section. Their cars look absolutely awesome beyond belief. Unfortunately they are all in the states.

My dad drives an aston vanquish which he has had for 5 years and with birthday coming was thinking of treating his car to a detail. Not by my hands but that of a professional and was wandering if anyone has had contact and knows of good, thorough, businesses or persons that would cover the hampshire area.

To keep you entertained a couple of pics of my first wash, clay, cleanse and wax. Next time i might try sealant instead of wax. Be easy on me I know this is nothing compared to the likes of those across the water.

You missed a bit

Looks good! Grab some FK1000P or Optiseal and layer that over some SRP and you'll be laughing.

Ed, will give him a shout this week and mention your name. Slightly more expensive than I imagined but never looked into it before.

Selsol, srp? Is that super resin polish? That is one thing I forgot to do before I applied the wax foolishly. And can you wax over optiseal? I hear you can't seal over wax.

Looks smart. SRP is Super Resin Polish and according to the folks on detailing world sealants are better on silver cars than waxes but there is no reason why you cannot add a layer of wax on top for added protection.

Anyone tried any chemical guys wet mirror finish?

Yep, Super Resin Polish is essential kit, nothing actually compares for a general use polish that everyone can use, and its so user friendly its just a joke, you can apply it in any temperature and it still buffs off easily.

General rule is Polish > seal > wax. Once its sealed you just need to top up the wax every month or so. Light cars don't benefit so much from waxing, so its not as essential for looks.

I use two coats of SRP to mask any minor scratches, a coat of FK1000P (optiseal is just as good, but its a hell of a lot easier, and had I known about optiseal I would have bought that instead) and then a coat of Dodo Juice Purple Haze (you'd want light fantastic though).

ALthough all of the above is useless if you don't prep the car first. Giving it a seeing to with some clay first. You can go to the nth degree with detailing (machine polishing etc), but if you clay it, then do the above, you'll have a pretty impressive finish that takes no effort whatsoever to clean.

I have just bought and used the autoglym hd detailing wax. Do you think that the do do juice will be a better blend of carnauba and better finish?

Just place an order for the opti-seal. Cheers

And FK1000p for the alloys. haha

Fk1000 and optiseal are the same thing? You didn't buy both did you?

The pro detailers will probably give you a more in depth view, but if you can tell the difference between hd wax and dodo juice I'd be extremely surprised, both are high quality products with good results.

How much you looking to spend mate. I know somebody who can do it but I think his minimal charge is £500 for 2-3 days. He can do up to 5 days if the paint is in need of serious attention for extra charge.

Not sure if the car is in a bad way as dad tends to wash it weekly and stores it in a garage over winter on trickle charge. Will be seeing it tomorrow though. Definitely will not need more than 2 days. Just a good clay and a very good compound polish me thinks to get out the years of swirls. This has been decided with my great detail knowledge and background I know.

Yep, that was probably me on the other thread I use it on alloys and paint. It works a treat on either.

FK1000P is a sealant that comes in a tin and its like beeswax, which you rub on with an applicator. Optiseal is essentially the same thing, but it's spray on, and much easier to use. Thats why I said I'd have bought optiseal if you scroll up a few inches

Where'd you get it from? CYC? If they haven't despatched it, give em a bell, they'll amend it. If you want to sell the optiseal, drop me a PM, may be able to help out........

Just spent £90 with them last week and got some other stuff from a few other places so will have to wait. Think full spend on detailing stuff this past month is near £400 but includes a Nilfisk E140 and snow foam lance.

Bought my Das 6 off Tim last year as well but to be fair I haven't really spent much money on anything since apart from a few AG products from our local JTF when they were doing the 100% free deal.

Sorry to the OP for drifting off topic.
