DIY Shop in the DMV

Has anyone ever found or know of a DIY shop here in the DMV? I'm thinking about doing my own work on my car (Downpipes, exhaust, etc.). Let me know guys!

Likewise, not looking for a shop persay but maybe a place to work on my own car, I can do the work but I dont have the tools. I have been part of a different forum in which the members gathered at someones house, grilled and worked on cars- nothing huge. It was potluck and a small fee of like 2 bucks was paid to use the members garage and tools but it was well worth it. It was good times all around.

I'd offer up my space, but I'm not sure $2 would do me proper. Not to be a dick, but just the electricity to run my shop lights for half the day is more than that, not to mention wear and tear on my tools and lift. Many members here have done stuff in my shop and either contributed something in exchange or dropped me a couple bucks. Food and drink are always a hit.

the place I posted above rents tools, however, its out near Dulles. they even have a mechanic for rent in case you get stuck or need advice.

we've done quite a few meets at Clem's garage where people bring in food, we grill, and work on various cars. definitely a lot more fun

Hey all,

Just wanted to post in this thread and say that I am purchasing a 335i coupe sometime soon, and live in an apartment. In just reading this forum, it seems like the mid-atlantic people are very nice. I look forward to hanging out with you guys.

BTW I will most likely be purchasing from Fairfax as soon as a used one pops up I like.

do you have any friends in the military around you? Most military complexes have some sort of auto hobby shop with enough tools to install d/p's and an exhaust - including lifts.

I was going to say Clem's, but I do know it costs to power up that garage! Definitely awesome. Thanks again for the help with the coilovers. I can't wait to drive it this weekend!

If we do a group meetup to work on cars, I can bring what I have. I might have to get downpipes sooner now

I've got a small garage and can offer help/guidance/tools to perform most jobs. No lift but have ramps and jacks so most jobs can be done. I've done downpipes a couple of times. Takes longer but it can be done. Pm me if you're in need. I'm game.

I'd be down but not sure if I can come out. I got some plans in dc on Saturday already. Maybe I can wiggle out of it. When are you getting started on Saturday, Clem?
