I know there is a DIY on here for the black/chrome window trim swap, but I want to hear from people who have actually done it. The upper trim sounds pretty easy, but the directions for the bottom is enough for me to take it to the dealer.

What do you guys think?

if you want the bottom trim, you'd better get it at realoem.com because the metal chrome trim bends as you take it off so can't reuse that

member beauderek got shadowline trim for his e90, and so i bought his chrome trim off of him.
i put the trim on a few days ago, and IT LOOKS AS GOOD AS NEW.

that entire bs on the DIY saying u cant reuse the chrome lower window sill trim isnt true, all u have to do is remove the pieces very very very carefully.
gently and delicately, if u do it with force, then it might mess up. his stealership took his trim off for him, and they did a good job, but for $170 i think, as for me, i removed the black trim and put on chrome trim myself.
however if ur a 325i owner giving ur black trim away, top comes off good.
the bottom trim doesnt.... because it is made of cheap rubber it bends easily when taken off, however i guess if ur carefull u can use it.
if someone wants 325i black trim PM me for info if interested, i have it and its in perfect condition.
i will post pics of my chrome trim, to show u of its newness. i think this was the first successful chrome swap, very happy.

Point of thread ----> How difficult is it to remove and replace the bottom portion of the trim. Is removing the door panels, mirrors, etc. as difficult as it sounds?

the back lowers are fairly easy, just pop the latch of the trim at one end, and work ur way towards front
the front lowers however are a big PITA...
u have to remove the side view mirror which is only hard bcuz its a pain to remove side door panels, u hafta remove em about half way, and then get access to 3 screws, which are on as tight as fuck. torx screws. the bottom 2 screws were hard for me to reach. once u remove the side mirror, the front is as easy as back lower trims.
once u start the trims, ull get teh hang of it.

and to answer ur question lol, i thought it was gonna be hard as hell, and i did it, and it looked dman good. im not even that good mechanical wise, just takes commen sense. if uve installled shit on ur car before, this should be no biggy.
