335i Gas? Petro Can or Shell?

Which brand gas station do you guys go to?

I've alway used Petro Canada 91 Gas...but I just learnt that petro can (along with many other gas stations) uses ethanol in their gas and thus, their 91 is actually not 91....but more like 89
and Shell is the only big gas station that uses no ethanol in their gas....

So is it better to switch to Shell Gas?

Shell. Below is an e-mail from Shell confirming there is NO ethanol in the VPower (premium) gas. Not sure if PC can make that claim.

As for Husky...I wouldn't touch it. My Stealership (Calgary BMW) have had multiple cars come in with problems after using Husky gas. Customers are pissed when they find out 10% ethanol voids the warranty.

From Shell TechDesk
Thank you for writing to Shell. We do not put ethanol in our Shell V-Power Gasoline. Here is the breakdown of the Shell gasoline and ethanol in Canada.

Service stations that have been converted to ethanol have required highly visible signs on the pumps indicating the following:

- Bronze (Regular) may contain up to 10% ethanol.

- Silver (Midgrade) may contain up to 5% ethanol.

- V-Power (Premium) contains no ethanol.

Petro 94, our cars are designed to use fuel with some ethanol content, as long as its not over the limit. I don't have the manual with me. But it's stated in there. The right amount of ethanol doesn't cause engine damage, dirty gasoline does. Higher octaine (ie., 94) does reduce knock, which gives you more power.

Petro 91 for me. I notice no difference (in power or fuel economy) between Shell and Petro and I rather have the 5 cents off / L.

Having ethanol makes fuel cheap compare to 0% ethanol like Shell 91.
So, 91 w/ ethanol vs. 91 w/o ethanol. Obviously, 91 w/o ethanol.
Also, no ethanol is better in fuel comsumption, HP, Torque, etc.

This is strictly car's point of view, though
If you are someone who cares about the environment, go with gasoline w/ ethanol.
I believe some states have regulation that restricts gasoline w/o ethanol.

So, Shell 91 FTW in Canada.

I have a hard time believing this.........................Most 91 and 94 is ethanol free. All you guys who think youre getting tons more HP should go to the US forum ....there are endless sites that explain.
