It says that they need to be welded from underneath the strut tower area.

Is this a problem exhibited on the E82/E9x platforms? I know it's an issue on the E36s but haven't heard of this come up on these platforms (yet?).

The M3 strut tower brace or similar with loads spread across the tower will helps maintain the structural integrity of it and at the same time reduce chassis flex and give the driver much sharper feedback.

You guys may want to also check out the Cusco OS Strut Brace as well! A strut brace will also reduce flex in your vehicle's chassis allowing for better handling, and steering response!!

Also can happen due to the shape of camber plates versus the shape of stock strut hats. But why do you think you need them?

Cusco is a replica of the CROSS strut brace. Plenty of companies in China are making them now, so be careful with what you get. There were some bad reviews that the brackets were not made strong enough and flexed.

Any front brace with hinges you will want to avoid by all means. The exact reason you are spending your money trying to prevent is flex and braces with hinges just flex too much. Short of welding a steel bar across the strut towers you will want to look for a brace with no hinges. The oem M3 strut tower brace is a good example.

+1 and the BMW Performance one for the N52 engine, all you need to do is remove the intake box and replace it with AFE or dual cones

I have the Dinan brace. No hinges, just bolted together.
BMW M3 brace looks good too.

Strut towers blowing out is a pretty common occurance on E36's and even on the E46. You would think that after all these years BMW would have corrected the problem. Maybe Turner found out that it wasn't the case on their Continental Challenge 328i/M3's.

I haven't heard of anyone blowing out the shock towers on an e90/e92 yet though...

Sooooo, do you say the M3 Strut Brace strengthens E9x strut towers sufficient for track duty?

Had a 320is way back when, bought off the showroom floor; later Bilsteined.

Set pretty firm, ride was a delight. Rear shock upper not only mushroomed but developed long cracks. Welded; did it again!

There are already reinforcement plates in the strut towers, do we really need another reinforcement plate?

In a race car sure, but a daily driver, I would think a strut brace is enough.
