Anyone replace their own air filter?
2007 328xi coupe non-turbo
Trying to replace the engine air filter myself, the bentley manual explains how ,but my question is do i have to disconnect the electrical connector to the mass airflow sensor to lift out the air box? Sure looks like I have to but does this connector just simply pull apart or is there a trick to it? Also ,will disconnecting it cause a fault code that must be cleared when finished? I`m thinking of changing the filter at 30K miles, the dashboard maintenance indicators don`t list the engine air filter as a maintenance item, will it suddenly pop-up at 45K? Thanks for everyones help. |

Yes disconnect the connector but be careful doing so, there is a small tab you must pry-push on to do so. If you don't start your car while its unplugged you shouldn't get any fault codes. Have fun!!

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger
