Running Windows on Mac for Vishnu interface

Hi,

I was just curious if anyone knew which software is better to run on my Mac, VMware or Parallels if I want to run bootcamp?

Or are they really identical just different brand, like Norton or McAfee......

TIA

I have tried vmware, virtualbox and parallels. All three work just fine.

VMware and Parallels take turns being "better/faster" so you really can't go wrong with either. I do like the simplicity of VMware and like that it runs my boot camp partition directly. It's cheap when offered as" student version" too if that applies to you.

More RAM is better with either software of course...

Bootcamp allows you to run Windows without vmware or parallels.

If you want to access windows whilst in OS x then use vmware or parallel but if you are to run only one OS at a time then keep clear of this as it puts one hell of an extra burden on your computer as bluefly mentioned. Bootcamp will allow you to pick which os to use at start up of the computer.

haha first post and nothing to do with my car.

found this thread in apple discussion.

general read is parallel has crap support if something goes wrong.
VMware and parallel seem to get equal appraisal other than the customer support thing.
There is also the suggestion of a program which is free called virtualbox which is open source and therefore free.
