Brake light service reset problem

Hey guys I'm having a little problem.

I just replaced my rear brakes pads. Service light was indicating 500 KMs left so I decided to get it done. I did not replace the sensor because I was told by many garage that if it didn't touch, it will still be good, which sounds logic. My Sensor looked mint.

So I replaced the pads and went ahead with the DIY to reset the service lights but for some random reason, instead of reseting to like 20,000 KMs in reset to "-----" and no, my front brake pads indicator and rear brake pads indicator go crazy when I start the car because they think it's below minimum now.

I tried again and again to reset them but they always go back to "-----" instead of a mileage.

How do I get fix this?

Thanks

Replace the sensor. It doesn't matter if it still looks good or it didn't touch.

I don't see how the sensor could be "mint" with 500KM left on the pads.

Yeah, after seeing how the sensor is made on these cars, I realized it was a mistake. So I went ahead and replaced the sensor and it still does the same thing. I tried resetting again and instead of giving me a mileage it only displays "----" and tells me that the pads are below minimum usage.

Now the weird part is why did it reset the front pads as well?! When I first tried resetting I selected REAR brake pads, why did it reset both?

And now, with the new sensor, nothing has changed...

Really weird. Tomorrow morning ill have the GT plugged on it and see if we can reset it with that.

You guys have any other suggestions? Car still under warranty until 2000 KMs I have an appointment on Thursday but I don't want to be charged for any work since I don't feel it's my fault that the computer can't reset anymore, even after I changed the sensor.

Got this from another poster: "I just got my car back from dealership, went in with break light on. They looked at the brakes and they were fine, tried to reset and to re-program the car, the light stayed on. Checked the circuit and it turned out a break sensor wire was broken."

It doesn't let u reset unless u replace the brake sensor. I did a test on it and it solves the problem.

Yeah, basically that was it. I replaced the sensor in the back, and the dealer just did a hard reset of the computer and it all came back to normal.
