Service light: looks like exhaust with smoke coming out?
Hi, got a service light this morning on my way to work, it looks like the back half of the car with squiggly lines coming out. what is this for?
i tried searching exhaust service light and all i got were engine malfunction threads, which i hope its not, and i would have checked the manual, but im at work, and worried about a engine malfunction. I also have the light with the front half of the car and squiggly lines, but i think thats for the cabin filter, which i already changed, correct? |

im at work, cant check it. tried downloading it from the bmw website, but couldnt access the manual for 2006, the pdf for the 2011s doesnt have it for some reason.
the service light said 1/2011, so i know its something scheduled. its just bugging me to figure out what it is, since im out of warranty and will need to get it done at my own cost. |

It sounds like you bought the car used and that it was originally registered in a jurisdiction requiring these inspections. The manual gives instructions as to how to reset the date, so if you don't need them, just change the due dates to 2025 or some such and the warnings will disappear. Tom |
