Continental DWS tires Balancing
Hi Everyone,
I ordered the Continental DWS from tirerack and had it installed at an authorized dealer. When i go above 60mph, my sterring column starts to shake and vibrate. I had them redo the balancing which they said was slightly off. However, the problem still exists. BTW, i have a 2008 328i. Anyway, for anyone who has these tires installed, did you have to do anything special to get them to balance? I did a search and people said something about a hubcentric ring? My next plan of attack is to get it balanced on a roadforce balancer if necessary. Any help would be appreciated. THanks |

I just switched out my run flats for the Contis last week. I have a 07 335 with sport package (18's). I have had no problems what so ever. The tires are an improvement for sure in ride. Your problem sounds like a balance issue for sure. Hub centric would only be an issue if you were running aftermarket wheels not set up to run on BMW. I would start again and have the wheels balanced. I'll assume that this problem started with the change of tires because out of round rotors will give you the same conditions you're having.

I just had them installed on new wheels, no problems at 60 or 90 mph. I paid a little extra and had them road forced balanced from the start. It's just a better method IMO.

Make the frick'n shop that you paid your hard earned money to balance them in the first place fix it. Do they not have a Road Force balance machine?

are you guys able to find the DWS's anywhere in stock? All my local shops are out and they're saying nationwide backorder with at least 2-3 months before next production finishes.

So, I took it to my friends shop who is able to balance the tires but can't mount. Seems to be that all the tires were .25 to .50 ouches off in the balance and one of the front tires had a bent wheel which explains the vibration. Swapped the rear wheel with the bent front wheel and and the vibration is gone.
Now time to look for a straight/used OEM 268 wheel. Thanks everyone for their help |

Go to another vendor or buy online. I just had the contis installed 2 weeks ago. Ordered them through a friend who runs a Mavis dealer and had them the next day. These tires are in demand but available.

Ah - seems to just be the particular size I want (235/35/19). The other sizes mostly appear in stock on tirerack and other places. Anyone here able to get 235/35/19's recently?

Continental DWS
I bought the Contintental DWS tires from Tire Rack too for my 06 530.
I have had the tires balanced 3 times to no avail. I think they are defective. |

One thing to note. These tires are so soft that after a cold night they feel "unbalanced" until they warm up. My steering wheels shakes sometimes in the mornings.

I ordered the same size at the end of April and they said a shipment was coming in by May 15. Sure enough the tires shipped same day from their Delaware warehouse.
