Warranty on leatherette?
I've searched the main forums but thought I'd post on here because 1. my car isn't as old as others with this issue (just over a year in-service) and 2. I'm hoping someone might have some experience with this at a local dealer.
I found a tear in my driver's side seatbottom, left side about where my left hip would be when seated. I have leatherette, the tear is about an inch long. It's not a seam coming loose but definitely a tear or rip in the panel near a seam. I'm very anal about my car, I always make sure I do not sit in the car with a wallet in my back pocket, and before someone calls me a fatass I'm 6 feet and 175 lbs. However, even if I did sit with a wallet or was on the heavy side this shouldn't happen!! Anyways, I'm at a loss whether this is something that is "normal wear & tear" or if this is something claimable through the warranty. Has this happened to anyone in a relatively new car? I'd appreciate any thoughts. If I can't get this fixed through warranty what's a good alternative to fixing a damaged leatherette seat? Are there shops out there who fix this kind of stuff? Thanks. |

They should fix this under warranty. If whichever dealer you normally use does not, take it to another dealer. At 1 year in-service, there's no excuse for cracking leather/leatherette even if you are a 400lb behemoth.

No. Correct me if I am wrong someone...but CPO is basically just an extended Powertrain Warranty.

Thankfully they covered my seat, rather than mending it I got a whole new seat-bottom...probably because they figured it would split again in the same spot. Anyways, I'm happy with how they handled this.
Think you're right VB, more or less powertrain. the CPO covers: # Engine # Automatic/Manual Transmission # Front Suspension # Rear Suspension # Steering # Brakes # ABS Brake System # Electrical # Air Conditioning/Heating System # Cooling System # Interior/Exterior # Fuel System # Final Drive Assembly, Propeller Shaft |
