Engine Ice...
ok.. so i have motorcycle and there is a coolant called engine ice that i use. it really does help keep the engine much cooler than regular coolant. my dirtbike is a motorcross so its a high performance motor.
would using engine ice in a a bmw be dangerous? Just curious on what some of your guys thoughts are.. after looking at a link i see people use it in automotive.. have any of you ever used it? . |

yeah after reading a little more about it.. cars with thermostats maintain a specific temperature i guess.. but to sum it up, it wouldn't make much of a difference.

BMW recommends the use of their own anti-freeze/coolant but I've seen plenty of people run water-wetter or other products. As with everything there is a risk involved... but I doubt you'd ever see it materialize into a failure. Statistically you're just making it more likely that you MAY see a failure I suppose. Or on the flip side BMW just wants to sell their coolant.

What kind of coolant is that? Coolant ain't coolant anymore.
You need to use the proper coolant or you'll run into corrosion issues. Some common types are 2-EHA - 2-ethylhexanoic acid OAT- Organic Acid Technology HOAT - Hybrid OAT Coolants are generally no longer interchangeable. |
