Comming Soon: Progman v25

Just an FYI:

According to my dealer Progman version 25 will be available in "March/April."

I already have an appointment for the update for May 1st.

I was told it will correct the sluggish operation of the iDrive menu, among other things.

Won't that be nice?

Edit:

I had a problem with my seat belt/key chime "chiming" all the time.

Here's what the repair order reads with regard to that complaint:

Quote:
J# 2 51BMZ CHASSIS ELECT DIAG TECH(S):XXXXX

Customer states warning chime does not shut off with seat belt on.
Performed diagnosis test no faults found concerning complaint and
was not able to duplicate.

Per PUMA Case #8066806 performed battery reset for 30 minutes
and the reconnected battery and complete encode vehicle and
rechecked system for functionality OK.
Does anyone know what "PUMA" stands for?

Same here, got 4200 to go before my first oil change. As for the progman update, I thought dealer will only update it now if you have problem with the car? Will they still do it if you just ask for it?

Yeah...my problem is that my idrive does not work right. It takes forever for it to search for a new destination.....

Me too! When I'm entering a new address into my address book it takes forever for the cursor to move down so I can "store entry."

Sometimes it will never move down.

Very frustrating.

I though it was the knob itself, because the problem does not exist for me when I move he iDrive knob in any other direction. Just "back."

But according to BMW, it's a software issue.

Let's all hope . . . .

Yeah I'll tell them that too since it's pretty slow, hopefully they won't give me the runaround though

Since the new progman is coming out. you should always wait to see if any other problem arises out of it or benefits u in some aftermarket feature u add or something. you dont wanna update progman and down the line say u wanted to add some feature and it requires updating of progman. becuase then you would be screwed and have to pay the dealer to actually do it.

PUMA are cases opened by your BMW service department when they cannot solve a problem and cannot find a published resolution.

Wonder what fun problems the March '07 builds will have. At least these updates will be included.

Interesting . . . thanks for the update.

I'll check with my CA in mid-April and see where it is at that time.

Again, thanks!

Argghhh. I just got Progman v24 installed back in late January. The car computer crashed once and it ended up taking 8 hours to complete. Not going through that again.

Seriously, I feel sorry for all you iDrive victims, this "update" will no doubt solve some issues, but if history is any indication, will also break some stuff that was working before. This is where the Japanese cars have it all over the Germans.. when it comes to electronics, it's no contest.

the new software is already being deployed here in Germany. The software is much faster because they simplyfied the graphical interface and removed a lot of color and pictures. So the system has more memory to deal with what's important.

I attached some pictures of the new interface for you. Actually I like it better than the old. But see for yourself.
