The stupid thing about red light cameras is it can shoot you just right after it change to red.
Also, it does shoot your rear plate.

It takes a picture of your plate if you enter the intersection AFTER the light has turned red.......who could complain that is a bad thing

We have had these for a few years in Calgary. They will only issue a ticket if you enter the intersection 'after' the light goes red, so if you are clearing an intersection on yellow, you are fine.

However, a word of warning, they will eventually do an upgrade and issue speeding tickets through the same cameras. We refer to these as 'speed on green' cameras

Be EXTRA CAREFUL when you're turning right on a red light!

Many many times, people forget to stop completely before doing a right turn. I got a flash from the camera once because of this, but luckily that particular camera wasn't in effect, so it was just a dummy camera to scare people. I'm sure it is fully functional right now.

As long as you go through the intersection at a speed less than 20km/hr you won't trigger the system. At least that's the case here in Ontario.. So if you're turning right on a red you should be fine if you're doing it at a reasonable speed.
