Anyone notice the 1-8 push buttons between the cd and dvd drive ? The E92 coupe with i-drive does not have these buttons. Are they for radio station presets ?? What gives ????

they are programmable iDrive buttons, so you can navigate with the push of a button to an iDrive specific function...whether that be a preset radio station, a preset Nav destination, etc etc

probably done to get the motoring press off their back about iDrive's lack of intuitivity!!

about time, shame the buttons are only coming in March 07 production vehicles onwards. i also heard they are actually updating iDrive this year - dunno if it'd be as dramatic as like upgrading from XP -> Vista

i wouldn't have thought it would be too dramatic... but perhaps just a little simpler/more user friendly
