Emissions Recall received today...

I received a strange recall notice from BMW today indicating a recall (for replacement) of the HPFP because it can cause failure of emissions testing (not because its a POS).

So instantly I think, well I'm not going to take it down there yet because mine is okay and i'd rather leave well enough alone...right? Wrong! It says that the notice is connected to CA DMV...no recall performed...no registration renewal!

WTF!

I'll scan tomorrow if no one has seen it or heard about it yet. I just got mine today, so sorry if it's old news.

Hahaha I just received my letter too. Emissions? That is great spin from BMW, maybe they hired a consultant from Fox news. Luckily almost everyone with a n54 knows the real reason.

I guess that sounds better than, "Pump might fail at intersection or and on freeway, might lead to severe car accident"

You can't really pass emissions if the car won't run. LOL!

On a side note, there are a few guys that have reported that their car wouldn't pass emissions because of HPFP codes, so it might actually be the emissions issue that finally got BMW to fix the pumps.
