Burger Tuned N55

Received my module today for the 335i car I am putting together. Initial impressions are excellent power improvement under the curve (low end) and overall smooth delivery of power. I'll be dynoing the car again on a Mustang 1100 Dyno to see power gains from my original pull. The car is bone stock other than an AFE dryflow replacement filter and scoops.

Installation was a snap after removing the cowl cover. Took all of 20 mins from start to finish including fishing a lost pick used to unclip the 4th sensor.

I logged nearly 50 miles on the car after the installation and the overall driving experience is greatly improved.

For those of you on the fence on weather to modify your N55 car or not, I can say that I wish we did this sooner to the car. The first 1200 miles were pretty lame in comparison.

Moving forward any of the MBRP BMW's we purchase will be Burger Tuned.

Here is a link to the product used http://burgertuning.com/N55_Jb_BMW_P...nce_Tuner.html

You sir, haven't driven a Procede Tuned N55. I have driven and ridden in both and talked to drivers of the Burger tune. When two different drivers of JB'd N55's told me they can't feel that much of a difference over stock, that's when I said; "Thank You very much". The JB is probably a great tune but 310 (or 30 to 40 over stock) to the wheels is currently not enough to satisfy most, when stage 2 comes out is what I want to see. I guess the extra 30 or so to the wheels of the Procede really does make a difference.

Just my .02

PS - Not bashing any tune, just waiting to see the full offering from Burger when stage 2 comes out!

Working on it...it will be spring before any production items are available. Likely just a catback though.

For someone to say they didn't "feel" that much a difference is pretty hard to believe having just done the modification today. However, I have a dyno at my disposal so I'll have hard numbers to see any gains. The overall driving has greatly improved. To argue differently would lead me to question ones judgment.

I don't have any experience with the Procede, I reached out to them for information but we didn't get a chance to connect for this build. Terry has been very informative so far in helping us out.

The JB N55 Stage1 is a night and day difference vs. stock! It's not the most aggressive tune @ only 3psi over stock but for the price and ease of install/removal it does wonders. I know other tuners are quick to crank boost way up with zero fuel control (no fuel pressure control and no wideband bias) but it doesn't seem very prudent to me. Especially on a new platform like this where long term durability is still unknown.

Good answer Mike but I think a lot of people are waiting to see what Stage 2 can offer. I think those final numbers will make more people ! 340-350 WHP maybe???

Perhaps your friend has a hiccup or wrong setting in his tune? I just drove from Los Angeles to Vegas and Back and tried Map 0 (Pass-Through) at one point after getting gas and it was supremely night and day...the tip-in on high-speed cruise was seemingly soft and had no kick at all...all be it, this is in relation to running tuned for so long as I'm sure stock to most people is still quite quick.

When I went back to Map 1 the car slammed me back in my seat on tip-in while cruising and I blew by people. It was like a different car. I'm running Power: 50, Boost: 3.25, LagFix: 80 which is just a touch over default and perhaps higher than what is recommended but I'm also on a newer physical board layout (not sure how many are running that). All this and smooth to boot. I easily beat up on a 335 Coupe (looked just like my older one!) but on M6 wheels. Obviously he was stock but it wasn't even close.

I have yet to try the procede and I'm sure it's a great tune, especially with all the features but this "Stage 1" tune is more than perfect for me until I feel the need to have that extra something.

Also, It was a fun ride until I hit crazy strong winds leaving vegas...was getting tossed left to right! Party On....

How do you switch maps??? i never read anything about that in the manual for the beta?

Also i agree with mike in that the install seems allot easier than precede because from what i heard on precede you have to tap into a ground and have to install a sensor that you can not even see. Sounds like a pita to me.

it's easy for me on my 135 as I can simply pull off the driver side cabling cover and pull out the USB cable for logging and map tweaking. 0 is stock (pass-through) and every other number is the same (performance map).

Considering the jb stage 1 has the least amount of control over what is happening compared to the procede it is ironic that you talk about how tuners are quick to up boost without any real kind of control over other factors. All the jb stage 1 is right now is a boost controller...

Dyno numbers should be here in about 2 hours. Just have to strap it down and get some coffee.

I drove up to see Terry yesterday and he helped me install the JB3 for my e90 n55. So far so good and definitely feel a difference. Plus now you can really hear the turbo working. Post those dyno numbers ASAP

BMS never disappoints and I can't wait to see the Dyno results Jesse! I'd also recommend that you check out the AR Design N55 Downpipes to maximize your hp/tq gains with the tune and aFe dci!

They haven't released any information what Stage2 for the N55 will be like so I can't answer that. All they've said is that Stage2 is a new box that will add on to Stage1 reusing its harness, etc.

Jb4 will be ported over to the n55. You get your new box and ship them back the old one.
