CN strike, Anyone else worried?
My Car is scheduled to arrive in Halifax on the 21st of Feb, I hope there won't be a delay in transporting my car from there!
http://ca.today.reuters.com/news/new...EARING-COL.XML EDIT: I just read this being covered already in one of the "CN tracking" threads Last edited by SapphireM4; 02-12-2007 at 09:11 PM.. |

It should be ok sapphire. Most sources I'm reading suggest that management is picking up the slack. Even if your car is late, it won't be late for more than a week i would assume.

You should be fine. I'm getting my car delivered next week and everything appears on schedule. Hopefully there is no snow when I go to pick the car up

Here is the email I received from my CA this morning. Anyone else get something like this?
Subject: CN Strike Update Importance: High As most of you are aware there is a strike underway by the CN conductors (UTU). The strike deemed illegal by CN started on February 9th and continues to this day. Negotiations are ongoing but we don’t expect any changes to the current situation until at Feb 20 after another meeting between CN and their Union negotiators. FACTS: CN Management is working the rail yards in an effort to keep rail lines moving The CN “machine” is slowing down despite the best efforts of CN non striking employees Railcars available for loading in Halifax have been drastically reduced Railcars arriving at railheads throughout Canada are taking longer to unload. X5 and Z4 should not be affected since they ship CP Rail lines. However, delays might occur if most truck carriers are busy shipping cars that normally would have been on rail Here is our plan: Region 1 Since Autoport Halifax is not loading railcars for Region 2 and 3 they can focus on loading Region 1 cars instead Rail loading in Halifax is very limited due to the reduced empty railcar availability Unloading cars in Annacis my be delayed but so far no major delays have occurred Edmonton Rail Embargo Edmonton is backed up and implemented a limited embargo into their rail yard. This is not a full embargo so some product will still be shipped and unloaded. The rail yard is issuing “credits” to shippers so that they can directly control in inflow of freight. Expect increasing delays out of the Edmonton rail yard Region 2 In an effort to get cars to dealers as quickly as possible, we have begun releasing cars to truck carriers for direct shipping to dealers throughout the region Fredric Dorais will be sending a detailed list shortly noting individual VINS with ETA’s where available Autoport in Concorde is beginning to show longer delays in railcar switching and offloading. This is expected to continue as the strike continues Region 3 In an effort to get cars to dealers as quickly as possible, we have begun releasing cars to truck carriers for direct shipping to dealers throughout the region Fredric Dorais will be sending a detailed list shortly noting individual VINS with ETA’s where available Montreal Yard (CN owned and Operated) much like Autoport in Concorde is also beginning to show delays in railcar switching and offloading. This is expected to continue as the strike continues I will send another update early next week with the latest developments. Thank you for your patience and understanding Regards, Greg Ellis Sales Operations BMW Group Canada 905-428-5935 |

My salesman said that there is a crap load of cars in ontario on thier way out west. This was tuesday, so hopefully they will arrive soon. On a better note the legislation is supposed to pass in the next 5 days and some of the CN employees are returning to work because they feel it isn't fair to make Canada pay for thier fight.
I want my car and if and when I get out of the military I'm going CN

Any vehicle that comes from Europe will be on CN rail. CP rail services our BMW's that are shipped from the USA. That is why Z4's and X5's haven't been affected by the strike. However, due to adverse weather conditions there has been a slight delay.

If any of you want to find out where your vehicle is, please contact me. I have access to special tracking abilities. I cannot guarantee when your dealer might receive your car but I can give you a good idea of where on boat or rail it is.

Ordered Nov.13.06, Arrived on the Topeka in Halifax on Feb.24.07, released from Concord to the dealer today Mar.15.07. Just saw it, it's worth the wait for this car I think!
