Afterinstallation of original bluetooth handsfree (644)
Hi,
Got a new F11 coming our way, and the spec got locked quite fast and unexpected. So we're in the option of taking this car as it is, or wait some more time for a new one (free of charge of course) We want the bluetooth connection, and the car doesn't have that. However, the car has got the USB 6FL option, and our dealer is saying that it means it has got the 'combox'. I know that it's possible to afterinstall the bluetooth connection for mobile phone (ref code 644). My questions are; -will that afterinstalled original bluetooth connection be/work exactly the same way as if it should've been installed from factory? Same menues, same soundquality and integration? Or what is the difference? -does the fact that the F11 coming has got the combox mean that it is "fully prepared" for bluetooth mobile connection (for ex microphone, required wires etc etc), and that the only thing lacking is the software? -will there be a lot of 'tearing appart' on the new car for getting this done? somehow I don't like the idea of random mechanics in the local BMW reseller getting their hands on things they might not quite understand to 100%, esp not a brand new car. So is it a major installation, and a lot of panels need to come of? We would very much like to grab this car coming instead of wait another round, but just as long as it means that this BT system is not going to differ from OEM. Would very much appriciate your answers! regards HF |

According to this page: http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...44&hg=84&fg=10 it seems to be the same combox regardless if you have 644, 6FL or both. So I guess all it would take is some re-coding to enable the Bluetooth interface in the computer. (Like switching the Bluetooth switch on your laptop). Worst case they need to add some sort of Bluetooth antenna.
They would probably still charge you enough to buy another combox though.... |

that sounds great. Is there a way to find out if there's something else missing, of what is needed for BT connection? Microphone is there in all F10/F11 cars? Quote:
