Decent discount on a new mini?

We're after buying a new factory order mini cooper S clubman for the missus for March 1st delivery.

We're a cash buyer and most dealers won't budge from list.

The best broker discount I've found is 3.4% off full price with options and vat.

I've managed to get one dealer to go to 4% off full price with options and vat. (20% Vat)

Is this any good? What do you chaps reckon?

Maybe worth giving Sytner a try?

Are there no pre reg clubman S about, they should offer a very decent saving. Building from new I can't see there will be much discount.

Speak with Anneka, on her return and she might still be able to help.

We got an exceptional deal through someone she put us in touch with, two other forum members have also recently acquired Mini's from them so they must have done something right. It wasn't a Clubman though and deals in January might be different.

Its handy that you already know what sort of money off you can get because it should make it easier for her to tell whether or not they can help.

I was in a Mini Showroom just today enquiring after the same.

There is currently a 1200GBP marketing incentive which drops to 600GBP as of tomorrow.

Mini will also protect the VAT increase so long as vehicle is registered by 28th Feb.

Unsure if this is of any help :-)

Pre reg / staff car discounts are shite.

They offer about £1500 less than the new cost for a 6 month old ex staff car.

A joke.

Besides, if you want the car you want - you have to buy it new. The missus will be keeping it for 5 or 6 years.

I'll try Anneka @ Sytner

Failing that Mike I can give you a contact for BlueBell BMW at Crewe - my mate is a business manager there and did me a cracking deal on the M3 - He has done sorted a few Mini's for friends & family so sure he can help if a deal can be done - PM me if you want his details.

Happy New Year, Paul

Maybe 'proper' or 'memorable' in a rose tinted glasses kind of way, but still a tiny, rusting, dangerous, unreliable hunk of old BL crap.

Give me an old MK1 fiesta XR2 anyday

Got a deal at last......

We got 8 'best' offers in, including brokers and some dealers who wouldn't budge by 1 penny from list!, then went back to our local dealer and said beat the best quote and we'll buy it.

So they did! Our local Mini dealer beat a £1300 (7.2% off list) discount offered to us by Broadspeed brokers.

Can't moan really, and some champagne and flowers for the missus when we pick it up early March.

Sytner Chigwell did contact me after I PM'd Anneka, but they weren't really interested in discounting new builds, just offering existing un-registered stock.

Thanks for the help anyway Anneka.

That's some serious discount off a Mini! Their profit margins are much smaller than BMW's...I think they make 4% front end from what I was told!

What options did you go for?

Congrats!

Cheers!

Eclipse grey metallic with silver roof and bonnet stripes (we like silver cars)
Chilli Pack (all sorts, xenons, OBC, climate, fogs, 17" 8 spokes, multifunction leather wheel, BT, USB, extended multicolour interior light package! etc)
Sports suspension
Folding dimming mirrors
Sun protection glass
Armrest (yes its an option in Minis too)
Auto lights and wipers

Cooper S 2011 comes with standard DAB, CD, sport button (changes throttle response and steering weight), sports seats etc.

The best dealer discount was 4% to start with and they were all bleating about that was the best ever deal and I mustn't tell anyone! That was to beat an online quote from brokers4cars.

So when Broadspeed came back with 7.2% for a UK dealer supplied car I though no one would beat it, but our local place did!! As they were local I offered them the chance to beat it and said I wouldn't go back to the other bidders if they did, I though fare enough if they do.

Anyway it was Williams Mini on Chester Road near Old Trafford, that did the deal, always very quick to come back to you and very polite and helpful, nice that they did the best deal too.

Sounds a nice spec and a decent discount, seems discounts on the Clubman are more generous than the hatch as they are not everyone's cup of tea but the S models do look decent.

Nice as well to hear of a dealer who is courteous and efficient even when being faced with a competitive price from elsewhere. some of them get big attitude when faced with another price but why I never understand, you have been good enough to go back and give them a chance to meet another genuine offer and you are offering them the deal if they can match it.

Agree with Davy.

Nice one Mike, congratulations. Very good specification too and my favourite colour.

By chance did you happen to see any discounts on the Countryman while looking ? Considering ordering a Countryman but worried because I feel its a bit marmite.

Or discounts on hatch Cooper S .......... I'm kinda tempted by a pre reg Pepper White Cooper S at the moment for the better half and interested if any deals on new ones. This pre reg car is the 2010 facelift model.

Davy - there might be some cars that Mini UK are have for 'clearance', if you're not overly fussed about the specification then it may offer better value then pre-reg. I suspect like it was for Mike, if you local dealer is offering a good deal anyway to start with then it isn't going worth travelling anywhere else.

Though if we decide to go for the Countryman then I'll try the dealer Mike is using, I can double ordering the car with visiting Bowden.

Hi Doughboy, congratulations on the new car, I know you'll love it.

Just to make things clear though, we were interested in helping, but for the level of discount that you were already offered there wasn't anything we could really offer to make it worth your while coming to us.

Random comment, I love the way the rear doors pop open on the Clubman.

Does the chilli pack include the option of an LSD like it did on the mk1?

Dad has a "fully loaded (!!!)" mk1 MCS and it has an LSD and all sorts of other bits - a great motor.

A mate in Canada has a Clubman Cooper S - absolutely loves it.

No, it doesn't include the LSD. From memory it used to be a standalone option that is no longer offered.

Only problem is, you can't see a bloody thing out of the back window because of the split doors!

The Clubman does actually drive slightly better in someways than the standard hatch.
