Squeaking rear tyre
While driving my 335i coupe I noticed a squeaking noise coming from the driver side rear tyre, the noise only happens when the car is warmed up and only at low speeds, I checked the pads plenty left, any ideas?

It's totally ridiculous. I've read through that thread as well and brought all the job and puma numbers with me to the dealership. They said that my break pads don't meet the required thickness left in order to be replaced based on the job rider. Meaning that apparently BMW has set a minimum thickness to be replaced if you have the infamous squeal. Total bullsh*t in my opinion because that is obviously a defect or poor engineering as we don't pay $50k for a car that squeals. I've been fighting back and forth with them and I think I may have to call BMWna in order to get this resolved. Either way have fun argueing with your dealerhsip over this, it's effin ridiculous.

I had the same issue and the damn thing comes back to haunt me. In Feb of this year I had the fantom sqeeking noise from the wheels exactly as the OP mentions.
They replaced all brakes, sensors, and rotors in Feb 2010. The noise started creeping back last month when making left turns and now it just another hyme. Complained about it again, but from what it looks like I only have CPO that doesnt cover it as it did before. My breaks are fine. After picking up my car next week, they are replacing the HPFP and injecters, plus getting oil change, I will see what they did with that. If there is no resolution I am going straight to the BMWna. Why the hell am I going to buy knew breaks and rotors if they are still good ? Last edited by BQTuning; 12-23-2010 at 09:08 PM.. |

Welcome to the club. I have had my right rear tire squeaking for a while now. I took it to three dealers and all were scratching their heads. I've had my brake pads changed, glazed, brake sensor changed and rotor re-surfaced. The squeak went away for about six months. I get it at low speeds.

I just changed my pads with Cool Carbon pads and applied brake quite liberally to the necessary spots of pad contact to the caliber, also tied the brake sensor off behind the wheel well. The squeal only comes when the temperatures are warm out so in the spring time I will find out if the non oem pads and applying my brake quite help.
