Short Shifter

I am looking at picking one up for my e92. I have black leatherette and grey poplar. I would really love a knob that matches the grey poplar, but I haven't found any. So what choices are there?

thanks,

james

According to the parts guys at Circle BMW, the E90 knobs w/boots do NOT fit the E92's. Just an FYI, everything I read here indicated they would work and when I ordered a E90 M short knob w/boot, the guy called me and said it would not fit and he would have to order the 92 one, although it was almost $10 cheaper than the E90 one. I assume he wouldn't lie since they had the 90 in stock and it was more expensive. Or maybe he just didn't know any better, but he did know that the sunglass holder would work for the 92 when I ordered that, and it was only listed for a 90, so take it for what it's worth.

true.. i hadn't thought about the shape of the boot. The non-booted shift knobs should work.

Okay so now I'm confused. The "Playing with knobs" thread says it's the knob only, no boot. But the threads listed as discussing that knob say that it came with the boot. So which is it? Also, I checked realoem.com and there's a "sports gearshift knob" listed that seems to fit the description of the short shifter, but the part # is different. Check it out:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...37&hg=25&fg=95

So what's the deal for us E92 people? I really want to change to the short shifter but I don't want to get the wrong one.

the reason the part number is diff't is that the knob in the thread is for the e90...the realoem link you posted is for the e92. That looks like the right one on the realoem website.

BTW: my oem shortshift knob for the e90 came with a boot attached.

Thanks - I guess I'll make sure I order the E92 one then. Another example of how this forum kicks butt! Without it I would have wasted $100 on the wrong part!
