DTC Fail + TPMS?

Today when I was driving home, I had the DTC Fail on me in the midst of absolutely nothing. I was wondering if this had anything to do with the fact that I just installed new rims without the TPMS installed- not sure if DTC used them to calculate individual wheel rotation speed?

The other possible cause, which I'm absolutely terrified of, is having a bent control arm or subframe from tagging the worlds largest pothole. Both of the right side wheels appear to be sitting fine though, so I'm not so sure. I already have a scheduled appointment for next week so I'm definitely going to bring it up. Any reason for immediate concern or anything? Thanks for any feedback.

I doubt they would be related. DTC uses Speed Sensors mounted in the hub.

TPMS has nothing to do with it. You may be right that something is out of whack after hitting the pothole you mentioned.

Alignment time.

Yea, i really didn't think it would have been the TPMS.. just kinda went out on a limb to hope the problem could be that minor. For sure going to have them look at all the alignment after that damn pothole. Has anyone gotten the city to pay for damage from pot holes? Minor pot holes are going to happen, but this thing was massive and in no way safe/ acceptable- should have been coned off. I've heard people have gotten it covered, but am curious to hear it first hand from someone.

bent rear control arm and strut. FML. going through insurance, and they've already put me 100% at fault because apparently because I didn't keep a clear look out. How the hell am I supposed to see every pothole at night when it's pouring? They've got a nice letter coming their way. Anyone else with a similar experience?
