OEM Trans fluid or something else? (warranty intact)
So I have CPO warranty and i'm at 50k right now on my 335i MT.. do you guys suggest I just use the recommended redline d4 atf, or should I use some royal purple and then just switch out with the oem if I take it in?

Well, whatever you decide to put in it, you don't need to refill it with oem when you take it in. It's a lifetime fill so they wont ever open it up. If it breaks, dealers wont open it up either. The just exchange it for a remanufactured one. Also, as long as it is BMW approved, I think you can use it with your warrenty. I think it's only with unapproved fluids that you might run into trouble. I could have sworn there's some law about using replancement parts/fluids regarding warrenty. You'll have to double check my on that one.
I used royal purple for a while and it makes a big difference when it's cold. 2nd gear grabs much smoother. When the gearbox warms up, it pretty much the same as the stock stuff.

so 3 for oem and 1 for other
someone said here http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...3&postcount=22 that redline d4 atf was recommended by bmw for manual transmissions. if bmw recommends redline d4 atf, would it be fine for warranty, or do I need to get BMW MTF-LT-3. I'm pretty sure I can only get this in 5quart size even though I only need 2-2.5. |

I used redline bc I'm not worried about voiding my cpo warranty. Reason I went redline was bc oem is expensive, need to bring my own bottles to the dealer to fill with oem fluid. Using redline I would believe would void your warranty on the transmission b/c a bmw dealer didn't do the fluid change they can blame wrong procedure or whatever, and its not recommended. I.E if you cant get it from the dealer it'll void your warranty
