It depends on how much you drive it. If you drive it a lot it's worth it. A major repair can cost you easily over $2000. That being said, my 325 has had little issues, but after my warrenty was out, I had 2 major repairs: valve cover gasket ($500) and a blown diff ($2000) both of which might have been covered.

It's really if you feel like you can do the work yourself.
If you are a DIY'er, get a BT tool and bentley manual and basically you can maintain the car yourself. If you intend on keeping the car for a long time, past 150k, I would change the oil change intervals to something shorter. I change my oil every 5-6K. Around 50k, I would flush all fluids, filters, etc. Then you should be good till 100k. Obviously doing the above will not prevent engine component failures but preventative maintenance helps if anything. Just my .02 cents. If I had a low mileage car, such as yours, I would religiously maintain up keep items. |
