precautionary checks

i have another year of warranty or 50K miles. i have 32K now. been in the shop for the first two recommended services. i should have changed the oil every 5K miles, but i'm sure i am still ok.

what precautionary checks can i have the dealer look to potentially cover under warranty? they replaced the HPFP due to the recall, but what else should i ask them to check?

Any peeling interior trim pieces?

I regret not getting my driver's door handle replace under warranty

I'm assuming you go the Greenwich BMW service center that is also where Pace BMW sends their cars. Just a word of advice, avoid a SA named Norbert.

It's not a bad idea to take it to a solid indy shop to have it checked out. It's a common request, and they are motivated to be helpful as they will be looking to gain a potential customer after your 50k is up. It should only take 30 min to an hour of labor (probably under a hundred bucks). See your regional forums for recommendations.

I did this myself recently. They didn't find anything major, but it was worth it for the peace of mind. On top of that, I got the impression that they really knew what they were talking about, so I am glad to have experience with another shop outside of the dealer that I can trust.

Well Pace and Greenwich use the same service center. I don't know about the sales department in Greenwich, but Pace sales center is fine.....everyone was nice.

But when I went to the service center, Norbert tried to charge me ridiculous amounts to change a vent hose in my EVAP system and a check valve behind my brake booster.

Long story short I was quoted for 14+ hours, the diag. fee, and parts.

I replaced the parts myself under an hour.....that was the last time I stepped into a dealership. Well a BMW one.

An independently owned shop. A place other than a dealer's service center.
